I built my entire cloud storage strategy around Google drive because it had very simple integration with my previous seed box provider. Like, I could run Plex from the cloud through them directly off of my Google drive and then mirror that to local storage.
Super slick and easily usable setup. In a push to completely de-google my life the past 2 years I had to figure out an effective migration strategy off of that stack.
It was a total pain in the ass. Not to mention moving the rest of the people on my family plan off of Google as well. The majority of them are fairly tech savvy and even with that in mind we struggled.
I am now 100% self-hosted and learned a shit ton about docker along the way but, I couldn’t imagine trying to do the same thing with a group of entry level users.
The last sentence resonates with me. I too wore a robe and wizard hat back in the day.
No shame in that! We gotta have something to die for these days. Haha
I gave up on expandable storage and a headphone jack. Bought a nice portable player with a DAC, but I respect dying on the hill.
That’s not bad. I usually keep a Pixel around to AOSP Style ROMs just in case nothing compelling comes out between big vendor releases. I’m already dreading the day my Galaxy Flip4 goes OOS. Have a Pixel 7 running Graphene as a backup/ travel burner currently.
I’ve eyed some Xperias. How are the security updates?
Size is the main reason I moved to a foldable 2 years ago. I’d love something reasonably sized instead of everything being giant phablets.
Are we married to the same person?
The only true answer
Wiby, particularly the “surprise me” option is great for old school sites and that StumbleUpon feeling!
Lol…is that some kind of threat?
Nazi bullshit isn’t free speech. That’s a trash argument. You need to look inside and find what part of you is broken if you think otherwise. Fuck Nazi anything. They don’t have a right to free speech. They lost that when they became Nazi’s.
Worth checking the bias on the reporting here. Very right leaning for the majority of the outlets making these claims.
It’s crazy how they fucked themselves out of revenue streams so completely. Within 6 months of canceling all our streaming services, I was able to pick up 4x16tb HDD’s for a JBOD connected to a NUC for about the same cost (likely less all said).
A lot of us that grew up sailing the seas became stable enough to afford the media we wanted and docked our ships. Now, I’m back on my favorite newsgroups like it was 2001.
There’s that quote from GabeN, I won’t repost it, but it’s true. There’s a serious service problem and the greed isn’t helping. Now I’ve got a multi terabyte NAS and backup with a streaming services and a Steam account I’ll never make through the backlog of.
All that said, when possible, I still by the stuff I like on physical, but even that is getting harder and harder anymore.
The biggest mistakes these shareholder appeasing cock puppets are making is thinking we don’t have a choice anymore. We do and they are greater than they’ve ever been.
This looks fantastic! Thanks for the recommendation.
I unfortunately don’t have MAX anymore after they dropped Westworld (and all the other crazy shit that happened around a year or so ago) so I may also have to borrow a copy from my friend the internet…
Edit: Looks like my son already put in a Requestarr for it and it’s in Sonarr. The *arr stack really has changed the game after I was out of the scene for 10 or so years.
When companies deny us avenues to watch / purchase their products wtf do they expect to happen?
I run O&O Shut Up 10 on every install of Windows 10 and 11 I need to suffer through. There’s still a bit of manual config to remove search bar and other GUI stuff but it’s a pretty great, free tool.
You also might want to script it to run on boot as Windows loves to revert changes after updates as another commentor noted.
That’s good to hear. I swap between a Graphene Pixel 7 and a de-bloated ZFold4 but the unihertz have me interested on size alone. The SD + headphone is a great plus.
Man, I don’t know honestly. I believe i first saw / read it on IRC in the 90’s…
and now I’m turning to dust. haha
Thanks for being social!!!
