  • What you describe as a ‘large thoughtful community of shared knowledge’ sounds a lot like a cult to me. You want to isolate yourself and your followers from the rest of the world because you know most people couldnt be kept there otherwise. You want to misrepresent your instance by removing anyone who doesnt agree with your (probably hurtful extremist) views and that just fuels the fire. I think most people arent inherently bad, just driven by their circumstances and worldviews, but if you dont allow opinions that dont match your own, you cant grow as a person and stay stuck in your own thought loops. Please try taking a different approach and maybe try relating a little to their arguments and why they react like this instead of dismissing them instantly.

    I mean sure, if you talk about common interests with people youre less likely to argue, but if you build actual relationships and communicate a lot, arguments are bound to happen. Not arguing with people you are actually close with seems unnatural, whether on the internet or in person.
