Well, digital piracy.
But ye olde Black Beard and the modern Somalian type is very much theft.
If it were the latter she could have still enjoyed live performances (assuming those people were good musicians playing in a good venue) but yeah sounds like she just didn’t like music. Which, to me, is crazy. When people say they don’t really listen to or don’t like music, I literally can’t even imagine what that’s like. There is so much diversity in music, especially now. Playing instruments has been a part of human history for at least 40,000 years and we’ve been singing as long as we’ve had vocal cords.
GOTTA GET DOWN ON FRIDAY
I mean really, who isn’t looking forward to the weekend, weekend
You’re really missing the point. Nobody would say “the ‘goal’ per se is decreasing attendance to events like this”.
They did exactly what they set out to do. Make a public spectacle that people write news stories on and then the public talks about it. Normalizing discourses of these issues and drawing more attention and support to addressing them.
People who are already of the corporate lapdog mindset that any inconvenience to them about social, political, and environmental issues should just go away won’t have their minds changed. But nobody wants to change their minds, they understand these people won’t change.
But young people especially will be drawn to support causes and invoke change when they are constantly reminded that their future is being destroyed around them, instead of just buying into distractions and ignoring it all.
Killer Mike said it best,
Don’t criticize rioting because I understand it. But after the fires die down: organize, strategize and mobilize. Like Ferguson, you have an opportunity to start anew. I don’t have a solution because whoever’s there will have to come up with it. But we need community relations: Riots are the language of the unheard.
Just add a little nuclear winter and we’re good. So there might be a little radioactive fallout, that’s just a problem for the poors to deal with. Billionaires will be okay in their acre sized underground bunker clubs and that’s what’s important.
Yes, submit a GDPR/CCPA (Reddit is in California, so they are legally required to serve these request to anyone ‘protected’ by US laws) request. It’s expensive and time consuming for them. It should also help you confirm if all of your data has actually been deleted. They have 30 days to comply with the request.
My plan is, one I get my data and confirm everything is deleted, to submit another request if any data was found and will repeat this until all of the data is gone. Only then will I finally submit one more out of spite followed by immediately deleting the account. Honestly not sure how that will affect them processing it but I’d imagine it should then indeed confirm the account itself is ‘deleted’.
“i am an instance admin/mod on the fediverse. by signing this pact, i hereby agree to block any instances owned by meta should they pop up on the fediverse. project92 is a real and serious threat to the health and longevity of fedi and must be fought back against at every possible opportunity”
Neutral opinion: any opinion can be popular or unpopular if posed to the right (or wrong) audience
lol I have to imagine a lot of the people active in Apple are pretty used to eating corporate overlord’s assholes so that doesn’t really come as a surprise…
If you care about your account and your post history, you’re free to run you own instance. People are also working on mechanisms to sync community subscriptions between accounts, which would at least help the UX navigating multiple accounts. Lemmy also has an API that I’m sure users will be looking to create services to backup your content as well, if something like that doesn’t already exist.
As for defederation, I’m only aware of these major reasons and all of them are legitimate:
The only thing a giant corporation could do is muddy the waters, but people who care about the future of Lemmy are working to prevent that https://wedistribute.org/2023/06/fedipact-blocking-meta/
A link to Lemmy would have been good.
The entire premise of NSFW is silly to me. Like no one has an obligation to make sure YOU are safely browsing at work. Get back to work.
I think you’re taking the W in NSFW too literally. It’s a user-moderated content filtering system. Be it at work, school, on a bus, in the streets, many people wish to be considerate of others and don’t want to publicly flaunt questionable material.
It may be to protect others from having to view it or to protect themselves from repercussion viewing explicit content in professional environments.
There’s also a difference between some text with ‘bad words’ and having hardcore porn or beheadings (NSFL) or whatever. Is there a grey area? Of course, different people will consider different things appropriate, especially in different settings and different cultures, but giving users the ability to flag content they post as ‘potentially questionable’ (synonymous to NSFW from my perspective) is just a means to respect other users.
Giving Nazis a platform is fucking cringe.
Careful with that tinfoil, you might get cut. Bud.
GTFO with your both parties are the same bullshit.
Is capitalism and the elite ruling class controlling our society? In a lot of ways, yes. Do the Democratic Party leaders do bad things? Sure.
But the Republican party is actively engaged in taking away people’s rights and freedoms. They prop up unabashed fascists.
Both parties are not the fucking same. And it’s this kind of whataboutism that got Trump elected in the first place.
Sure, but the OP is talking about groceries…
