idk, but maybe cause your comment implies that this post has a political agenda instead of just being shared because it’s a legitimately mildly infuriating issue

how can women be expected to compete against the dyson sphere? it’s all over for us, smh 😔
yea im in the sweet spot too lol, 30 and still regularly discovering new music i like. i hope we both maintain this positivity as we age, i think it’s a much nicer way to wade through life. even if i reach a point where i stop liking new music, i hope i can still see the value in it for others, i never want to be that old grump
it’s one thing to not like new music, i think that’s normal, people discover the music they like fairly early on and usually get kinda stuck in it. but all the people saying new music is objectively garbage and people just have garbage taste now? yea they got that boomer mentality where the stuff they like from their youth is the golden age, everything else is inferior, and their opinions are facts
as my dad would say, “you’d complain if you’s hung with a new rope”
Pink Floyd, at ~7,000 minutes. My dad was in the top 0.05% of listeners globally, with a total of ~154,000 minutes. He was in the top 0.005% of Pink Floyd listeners at ~28,000 minutes.
this is just an ad
I saw a great response to that on this community (or on Reddit, can’t remember). Sure, ADHD is like a superpower. It’s like being able to fly, except you can’t choose when you start flying, how fast you fly, which direction you fly in, or when you stop flying.
One of the articles explains that the females have some mechanism for keeping the sperm alive, I imagine the sperm is able to replicate itself as long as the environment is friendly. I’m not sure how they would choose between sperm, that may just be a hypothesis. I unfortunately don’t have the time to read further right now
Well I wasn’t expecting to look this up today. But it looks like there’s actually plenty of evidence for bats holding onto sperm for months. I’m not sure about them selectively choosing which sperm to use.

And it’s not just bats. Apparently some turtles can hold onto sperm for years.
OCD is a very complex diagnosis, and I’m not even saying OP has it, just that they are displaying symptoms. Obsessive thoughts and compulsions do not always revolve around repetition, that is only one of many possible symptoms. Much like ADHD people experience ADHD differently, people with OCD have different symptoms.
ETA: compulsions involve feeling compelled to do something in order to alleviate feelings of anxiety/doom that something bad is going to happen. They often manifest as repetitive behaviors in most people with OCD, but I’m not here to diagnose OP. I’m just saying they are showing symptoms, and they could benefit from coping techniques that target obsessive thoughts and compulsions.
I also sometimes get obsessive thoughts or compulsions, though I fall well below the bar of an OCD diagnosis. OP, this doesn’t sound like an ADHD symptom. But just because you experience OCD symptoms doesn’t mean you have OCD. You can still benefit from coping techniques that people with OCD use to handle their obsessive compulsions.
If it causes difficulties/stress in your life, it might be worth looking into. For me it turned out to be a symptom of CPTSD, which was a surprise
Why don’t you join another instance? Censorship on the fediverse just isn’t that effective, since you can just join a different one that won’t ban you for no reason. Lemmy.ml mods aren’t going to be convinced by any posts to unban you unless it was an accident somehow
Thanks for the explanation! I saw several more downvotes at the time I made my comment, I think it was 4 downvotes for the parent comment and 2 for the second comment. Votes between instances aren’t always consistent, I’ve noticed when I switch accounts that the same comment’s votes can vary quite a lot.
Did you read their post? They explained that they are posting lead comments with the names of different VPNs, and they want us to vote and comment on the ones we use with our reasoning.
For a noob, can anyone explain why this one is getting downvoted? Is it bad?
I think “kicked off” is not quite the right explanation. Linking to a post in another instance this way leads to being logged out. I can see a link from lemmy.world while still in my home instance, but if I visit lemmy.world, where I don’t have an account, I am logged out.
Two small accommodations that have worked for me as a biochemist working in a lab.
One is that she needs to give deadlines for requests. She cant just say “get that to me ASAP” because does ASAP mean drop everything and do it now, stay late to finish what she needs tonight, or end of day tomorrow, etc. Or “hey I need ____” with no specified timeline, doesn’t work. She knows that my time blindness means I don’t remember how long ago she told me to do something, and I’m so busy with other shit that I easily lose track. I think it’s been two days, it’s actually been two weeks. She now gives me due dates. It’s less stressful than never knowing when she actually needs something.
Another is if I’m running an experiment then I can’t listen in to meetings like everyone else, because I get distracted and fuck up my experiment. My boss knows that if my experiment is the higher priority then I won’t attend any meetings during that time, and she’s fine with it. If it’s an important meeting I have to plan my experiment around it, or just do it another day.
I’m not sure if these qualify exactly. I didn’t have to go to HR to document my disorder and request these accommodations, I just talked to my boss as these things became problems.
