Yeah if you’re a functional member of society, then I don’t at all get the stigma. It’s the NEETs that should be getting a bad rap.

I’ve got my own place, but I’ve asked my mom to come live with me before. She doesn’t want to lol (for various reasons, but we have a really good relationship), but I definitely would feel super comfortable doing so if the circumstances called for it!

I think the point with standing desks is really you just want one that can convert to either be a standing or a sitting desk. And you switch it up from time to time.

It’s odd the people that advocate for standing only all day. Standing in one spot all day is straight up painful unless you’ve got a nice standing mat. Even then it can suck. Walking all day is different and won’t hurt as much. Long periods of immobility in any position aren’t exactly great for you, whether you’re sitting or standing. Not having the option to sit is also terrible.

A combo of standing and sitting is best, not one or the other.

Oh please. Power hungry? I have no problem with piracy, but you bet your ass I wouldn’t want the legal liability of hosting a piracy community. Do you know that in many countries, mods/admins are risking jail time when they participate in stuff like that? God forbid, some people don’t want to have to worry about going to jail. Get over yourself. There are plenty of other piracy communities all over the internet you can find on your own.

Apple isn’t alone in this. Samsung’s default keyboard does this as well. It’s absolutely infuriating. I’m an adult. I should be able to say what I want to say without my phone of all fucking things censoring me like I’m in primary school or at a job interview. It’s ludicrous. So I use Gboard instead.

In school, my method of studying was to panic and do nothing until the night before. Then I would stay up all night before whatever test I had and study then. I remember always hearing that you don’t learn anything that way, but I made it through 4 years of undergrad and 2 years of grad school that way. My grades were just fine.

My sanity, however, was not. Lol!!

Not really. Because my monthly bills don’t come at the same time each month. It would probably be harder to coordinate bills if you’re paid monthly here anyway. Makes more sense to have a steady cash flow imo. Imagine living paycheck to paycheck and your bill is due on the 28th, but you don’t get paid until the 1st. Some people might run out of money before their bill is due and they don’t get their next paycheck yet.

Before my current job, any job I’ve had had an 8.5 hour shift with a half an hour unpaid lunch. But I managed to score a gig where I have an 8.0 hour shift with a half an hour paid lunch. It seems uncommon in the US, but I guess it must be common elsewhere.

It’s not even a shadowban thing. I’ve noticed a lot of subs have hidden requirements for your post to show up in them. If you don’t have enough posts in the sub or your karma isn’t high enough, even if you’re not shadowbanned, your threads just straight up won’t show up… especially if you made a new account recently. But it doesn’t tell you that. It just lets you think that no one cared to look at your post.

I’ve noticed that some subs don’t seem to be this way and my threads will show up regardless of how often I’ve posted there and regardless of my overall karma.

It was really stupid of him to be so cocky about it… eventually causing his own demise. But it is funny that the Wikipedia article says how he had done the experiment many times before, “often in jeans and cowboy boots” lmao.

Physical therapists are going to be physically manipulating people around helping them to do their exercises and such. You’re going to be physically taxed a fair bit. Although in theory, PT’s won’t have to help a patient every time they need to get up to use the toilet like a nurse or nurse’s aid would.

Odd. That’s backwards from what I generally hear people talk about. When you’re still in your early twenties, it’s very easy to meet people in college/university. Once you start getting older and leaving behind schooling and its associated extracurriculars, it gets way more difficult to meet people. Where are these 35+ people going out and finding partners? Not saying it’s impossible by any stretch of the imagination, just a lot harder.

I know Chicago really blurs the line between “deep dish” and straight up “casserole”, but this is a whole new level. What even is this? I’m both intrigued and mildly horrified.

I do totally get paying to support something you use a ton.

But I don’t get comments like this calling blocking ads a cat and mouse game. It’s always been incredibly easy to block ads on the devices I own and I rarely ever have to mess with anything after installing a single browser extension or a single app.

On my desktop/laptop–ublock origin. I would install this regardless of whether or not I care about YouTube ads because ads on websites in general can be pretty cancerous. So I would already have it on my device to begin with. Install one extension and forget about it. Very occasionally ads start coming through, but then the extension auto updates itself and I don’t have to worry about it. It’s effortless and I absolutely never need to mess with the settings.

On my phone–YouTube ReVanced. Just basically download I think two APK files and you’re set. I’ve had to reinstall this a single time over the maybe decade(?) I’ve been using it as YouTube had some sort of breaking update or something. But having to install it again once every many years is hardly an inconvenience. Oh I guess I have had to install it again when I’ve gotten a new phone, but that’s really not that odd or inconvenient to me either…and generally I don’t get a new phone that often.

On my android TV device–SmartTube Next. It’s a single APK file. Set it and forget it. I’ve never had to reinstall the app.

One caveat with this is that it seems harder to watch YouTube ad free (without paying for premium) on Apple devices. So if you use a lot of Apple products it also makes sense.

I’m not sure if this is ADA compliant. It might be the reason why we don’t see these very often. I had one of these at work though.

It’s not more convenient 95% of the time if you don’t live in a place where you can just plug it in all the time. Until people are able to figure out how to get widespread adoption of EV charging stations in apartments and condos, EV adoption by the general public is significantly limited.

Yeah, I had to read this meme several times over to figure out what it was saying. Smart Shuffle just randomly turns on for people? I’ve literally never had that happen. It only turns on when I turn it on.
