Try the Photon for Lemmy client!
Moved to the account @Xylight@lemdro.id
I hate google as much as the next guy but ya must admit Chromium is quite fast
I know some optimization techniques and will get to it soon.
Photon uses svelte which is pretty fast. Not sure what's going on with your phone. It could be Firefox, as I have a very smooth experience with Chrome on a Google Pixel 6.
Edit: tried it out on Firefox and it’s slow as heck. It could be that Firefox is just slow? It seems vger.app is fine though…
Next update will be a big optimization update.
You can install photon as a PWA, which is basically an app. On the website, click the three dots and click “install as app”
The server and the client render differently.
If SSR is enabled, the initial page load will be loaded by the server then sent to the client. Then, the client router will take over and load pages itself after that.
PUBLIC_INSTANCE_URL is the instance URL for photon to use. Sometimes, you might want the server to use something like localhost, so you can make the server have a different instance URL than the client.
While I believe that this may be a hostile decision, it was inevitable. A lot of YouTube's revenue comes from ads. Use piped or something
You can ban them (if you’re an admin), but the ban won’t federate to other instances.
Update: fixed in v1.18.0! making an update post now!
yay
added $3 and $5 tiers if people want to waste more money on me
(do not feel an obligation to donate. bug reports help a ton!)
It’s weird that I came from designs like this just under a year ago.
I’m still working on it. It’s not too difficult, I’ve actually finished compatibility, but I’m implementing the new features to maintain my claim of feature parity.
It’s not actually native, it’s a PWA. However you can use a wrapping tool to upload PWAs to the play store.
Unfortunately I don’t have much experience in native app development. If I did want to make a native android app, I’d use native components and my app would look like Sync.
I could upload it to the play store though. Also adding it to your home screen should install it as a PWA!
Thanks! :>
It is not comfortable to hold a 46C metal object in your hand.
Finally
I am aware of the issue with losing your spot. It’s been there since the start of Photon, due to a problem with SvelteKit.
Instead of using your browser’s native back-cache, SvelteKit’s client router will take over and re-fetch the post feed when going back. back-cache hasn’t been added yet, so I can’t fix this :(
I could do the post page option, but that would cause the bundle size to explode. I’ll experiment with it.
In terms of the small tap target issue, you can also tap the post title to go to the post.
It’s been added as an option. still don’t know how many people want it
Great! in ~10 minutes a docker image will be done for 1.10.2. Could you update it then? I forgot to make post bodies visible in cozy mode.
i fixed it
