VRchat is similar to second life in terms of what it provides to the player, and is very popular with VR users. Second life is still around but it looks like puke and has an impenetrable culture.

This is a bit close minded and reductive when you can see a large number is examples where these tools beat the shit out of search engines, and search engines have been on a precipitous decline in quality for years now. Not talking shit; the privacy concerns are very valid and i dont think there is anything at all wrong with an anti-ai stance in these areas, I just don’t want novices reading this and thinking these tools are “glorified keyboard autocorrect” when some near version of them is undoubtedly the future of both internet search and internet assistant.

The WAN show is a great option for a one stop shop for broad tech stuff. It is often very long but they add very clear chapters to the youtube video that make it easy to jump to the stuff that interests you. Luke is a software developer/manager so he is fairy knowledgeable in that realm, and Linus is a very transparent CEO of a tech media company, so the coverage is actually very good between the two of them. Just dont expect in depth conversations about RHEL forks and node.js code efficiency and stuff, its very much meant to be consumed by regular tech enthusiasts and not hyper deep code monkeys.

There is no reasonable rational analysis where Joe Biden is a fascist lol. He’s a neoliberal and I think he sucks, and I truly wish for a different candidate for the Democratic Party. But there is no comparison there between him and the other guy. Not even the same stratosphere.

Politics has been an exercise in finding compromise from day 1, thousands of years ago. Any, ANY, system of politics that could reasonably exist, will result in candidates that huge percentages of the country aren’t happy about. Now, I would LOVE any ranked voting method for this country to minimize this effect. We definitely don’t have an amazing system of politics. But “this is by design” is literally untrue unless you believe in some weird conspiracy thing. The US constitution is mega old, most of it’s failures are related to that, imo.

I think this decision is stupid and not particularly well structured legally. I do hope that it might lead to a better system though, one where schools examine a more appropriate factor instead of race. Race is a useful shortcut, and definitely the best easy identifier we have, to help the people who need the most help and have historically been fucked over, but i do think looking at something like two generational wealth will have the same impact but also include people who are struggling from other races. A more precise system would be ideal. Colleges are already factoring wealth or direct family income, they just need to restructure that approach.
