How does this actually works? Can you point me to technical documentation about this?
I’ve only found info about SSAI, not about SSAP. Is it the same?
Seems too much, really. Even if they do such a terrible thing, would they not expose a “report ad” or “see the product” buttons? Video buffer is still locally downloaded.
I don’t see any technical specification in the article, but if they inject the ad at the start of the video, making it part of the video itself, would make possible to just skip it using video controls. To avoid user skippin ad thru video controls there should be client-side script blocking it, so an ad-blocker can use this to tell apart an ad from the video itself.
Can anyone correct me on this?
Also, would this affect piped and invidious too?
Is there a list of impacted roms?

From issue thread.
If LibreTube is not working for you (the reader, not OP), enable HLS here:
3 dots > Settings > Audio and video > Use HLS
See this.
Try enabling “Use HLS” inside:
3 dots > Settings > Audio and video
See this.
I was using LibreTube only as a music player and was a bit unreliable (sometimes it would crash or get stuck in infinite loading). Trying to use it for videos was impossible, since trying to skip even just 10s the video would load endlessly or just go black and freeze.
So I looked up on their github issue tracker and found this pinned.
“This app can only access the photos you select [in this dialog]”.
This is a system dialog to let the user choose pictures to share with app. It’s not an app dialog which can’t see things without permissions.
The same dialog is shown in multiple apps, here in the screenshot the app in question is DarkModeLiveWallpaper (f-droid) which do not have storage-related permissions at all. I can’t give permissions it does not request. So it is not an app permission issue.
Also, every app shows the same one folder in Albums view: screenshots.
The point of this dialog is to choose which image to share with the app without giving full permissions. In fact the app itself does not ask for storage permissions at all.
And I can see all the pictures in Photos view anyway, so I don’t think it’s a permission issue.
Edit:
In installed apps list there is “Media picker” which COULD be this. It does not ask for storage-related permissions.
Try enabling “Use HLS” inside:
3 dots > Settings > Audio and video
That’s not based on room light color and share the same white point of other profiles.
I was looking for something adaptive, which would follow room light color.
Thanks anyway for reply.
They are busy at ads rather than improving anything.
I think corps prefer using finite resources to make customers depend on buying them. Imagine being able to recharge your car by what you produce with your solar panels on your roof: you will spend money only on the car itself and not on the fuel.
The only good thing I could think off, is that someone is going to create a defederated stackoverflow alternative?
I’ve read of someone making an alternative to stackexchange federated. Let me lookup for it and add a link here.
Here it is:

Me on my way gettin on train to go to the far grocery store in my non-walkable city. /s
I understand why people likes trains, but it’s not the answer to every situation.
Try driving a solar powered car.
Dunno if helium can be used in cars tho.
Thank you, it makes sense.
I’ve tried to install some apps from Aurora store (denying network permission) and then I saw these requests on TrackerControl, so maybe those apps wantend to be opened by default with these links.
